Room Air Purifiers
Room Air Purifier
Using room air purifiers
Most air purifiers on the market are designed to clean air in a single room. Room air purifier is effective for maintaining healthy environment in a separate room in your home. You can purchase several purifiers using different technologies for different rooms in your house: ozone generator for kitchen to kill odors, HEPA filter for living room to clean dust, and an ionic purifier for bedroom not to be bothered by the noise of filter purifiers, etc. Feel free to choose according to your needs and purposes. You can also save and buy one multi-functional device and use it in differen rooms when required, it's up to you. But, whatever you choose, I personally believe that a quality air purifier is an indispensable appliance in every modern home.
How to choose a room air purifier
So, what should you pay attention to when choosing a room air purifier? Same criteria as in other purifier types: main pollutant, room size, budget. Noise level is also very important, especially if you are going to use the device in bedroom or nursery room.
- The contaminants present in your indoor air define the main technology that should be present in your air purifying system. Check the types of pollutants and most effective technologies in our air cleaner comparison chart.
- Room size is also important for choosing the adequate air purifier able to cover the entire area. Threr are some peculiarities, though, that offer additional requirements to the air cleaner capacity. If you have high air flow, high ceiling, open areas, doorless rooms etc., your purifier has to be with higher capacity than your actual room size.
- Noise level. You should pay attention to this factor, as most air purifiers that contain filters can be quite noisy. This noise may seem tolerable at first, but when you use the device continuously, it can become really bothering. Air cleaners with higher noise level can be used in living rooms, kitchens, offices, but are not advisable in bedrooms.
- Budget. If you want to save on your room air purifier without sacrificing the cleaning quality, you should keep in mind that cheaper purifiers often become expensive in use: replaceable filters, UV lamps, maintenance, electricity consumption, etc. When shopping, it's better to prefer an air cleaner that use permanent filters, or filters that don't need to be replaced too often. Also, pay attention to the price of replaceable parts, and energy efficience.
